Fjordpol As considers quality and sustainability of paramount importance. Over the past decades, we have been a structural forerunner in the fishing industry with our commitment to supplying sustainable fish. From the MSC certificate (obtained in 2008), to the Organic Production Netherlands certificate (2009) to the Aqua Gap certification program (2010) and the ASC certificate.

Fjordpol As now imports and exports according to the highest quality and sustainability standards (including IFS higher level, BRC A and BIO). In addition, Fjordpol As also participates in its own fleet, with the cutter Z300 ‘Sola Gratia’. With this ship, various forms of sustainable fishing are practiced, fly shooting in the winter and twin rigging in the summer.

Twin rigging is a form of fishing that mainly focuses on flatfish (plaice, turbot, dab and sole). With twin rigging, substantially less fuel is consumed than with traditional beam trawling. The Z300 can normally be found on the Dogger Bank in the North Sea during the summer period.

Flyshoot fishing is a form of fishing where fishing is done behind the ship with lines, with a net attached. The Z300 fishes for squid, red mullet, cuttlefish, red gurnard and whiting in the Channel using the flyshoot method.
